In 1958 plans for construction of Canyon Dam on the Guadalupe River Mile 303 began. Two years later in 1960 while Canyon Lake was still in the preliminary stages, Tom J. Sheridan began developing the Texas Hill Country into residential subdivisions. Always the real estate visionary, he was a leading developer on the south side of the lake.
Water impoundment of Canyon Lake began in 1964, and the conservation pool level was reached in 1968. By this time Tom J. Sheridan Properties had earned the fine reputation of being an established developer in the area. From the very beginning when there was talk of damming up the Guadalupe River, Tom was a true believer. He helped make Canyon Lake a reality.
